## Key points

- Burnley sacked Nicky Hayen after 14 matches.
- A 4-1 loss at Lincoln left them 22nd.
- Burnley have conceded a division-high 25 goals in 12 league games.

## Summary

Burnley have sacked head coach Nicky Hayen after only 14 matches, following a 4-1 defeat at Lincoln City that left the club 22nd in the Championship. The decision reflects a poor start to the season and puts another change in charge ahead of the club’s bid to return to the Premier League.

Appointed in July to replace Scott Parker, Hayen had won the Belgian title with Club Brugge in 2024. Burnley have lost six league matches this season and conceded 25 goals in their first 12 Championship games, the most in the division; they have also won just one of their past 24 league matches.
