HBO Max has announced that an untitled documentary about the beloved sitcom Gilmore Girls is now in production, nearly two decades after the original series ended. The project brings back star Lauren Graham alongside series creator Amy Sherman-Palladino, marking a fresh return to Stars Hollow more than ten years after the 2016 revival Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life.

The documentary will be told from the perspective of Sherman-Palladino and executive producer Daniel Palladino, tracing how the show grew from a modest family drama, which premiered in 2000, into a cross-generational phenomenon. It will feature previously unseen outtakes, behind-the-scenes footage and script pages, exploring the creative chemistry between the cast, crew and collaborators that made the series and its cosy small-town setting so enduringly popular.
