## Key points

- Jessica Cruz becomes a Green Lantern after a ring finds her.
- The animated series features Kilowog, Kyle Rayner and rival Lantern groups.
- Its cosmic, anime-inspired approach differs from the grounded *Lanterns*.

## Summary

HBO Max’s animated series *My Adventures with Green Lantern* is set to explore the cosmic side of DC’s Green Lantern stories, offering a different take from the more grounded *Lanterns*. It matters because the new show could bring the wider Corps, its alien foes and the franchise’s emotional spectrum to the screen, while expanding the animated world of *My Adventures with Superman*.

The series follows Jessica Cruz, voiced by Auli’i Cravalho, who joins the Green Lantern Corps after a power ring lands in her lap. A preview shown at Annecy Festival features future Green Lantern Kyle Rayner as one of her classmates at Hal Jordan Memorial High, and introduces Corps trainer Kilowog, Yellow Lanterns and Red Lanterns. Drawing inspiration from *Sailor Moon*, the show depicts Jessica singing the Green Lantern oath and transforming into a costume with a similar look.
