DC unveiled a new trailer for HBO’s forthcoming Green Lantern-inspired series, *Lanterns*, at San Diego Comic-Con. The footage suggests the show will combine a terrestrial murder mystery with wider cosmic danger, positioning veteran Hal Jordan and rookie John Stewart against the rogue robotic Manhunters.

Kyle Chandler plays Hal Jordan, described as a cocky test pilot, while Aaron Pierre plays former Marine John Stewart. The trailer also introduces Ulrich Thomsen’s imprisoned Sinestro, formerly Jordan’s friend and mentor, and the series is scheduled to premiere on HBO on 16 August.
