HBO’s Harry Potter Officially Confirms the Biggest Change From the Movies

Collider · 4 hours ago

HBO's forthcoming Harry Potter television series has confirmed a notable visual departure from Warner Bros' original film franchise: the redesign of Harry's lightning-bolt scar. New promotional material for this year's Back to Hogwarts celebration gives the clearest look yet at the scar as worn by Dominic McLaughlin, who plays Harry in the HBO adaptation, revealing a markedly different style from the one made famous by Daniel Radcliffe.

Where Radcliffe's scar was rendered as a neat, precise lightning bolt made up of three sharp, straight lines, McLaughlin's version is rougher and more jagged, designed to look like an actual wound rather than a clean symbolic mark. The HBO series, based on J.K. Rowling's novels, is set to premiere on Christmas Day.
