Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds gave an unannounced rooftop performance above Resident Records in Brighton, ahead of their major Preston Park concert, drawing a large crowd of fans and passers-by. The impromptu show added to a city-wide programme celebrating Cave and carried particular emotional weight because Brighton was his long-term home before the death of his son Arthur prompted him to leave.

Although the event was intended to be secret, people gathered after receiving tips or spotting musical equipment on the record shop’s roof, and by 10.30am the narrow street was packed. Many attendees had travelled internationally, including from Germany, Norway and France, while others were following the band across several European dates; the Preston Park concert was billed as the group’s only advertised UK performance of 2026.
