The Dorian TV Awards are given by GALECA, the Society of LGBTQ Entertainment Critics, a group of journalists and critics who cover film and television. The awards recognise programmes and performances across drama, comedy and other categories, with particular attention to LGBTQIA+ representation and storytelling.
Heated Rivalry is a drama series created by Canadian writer and director Jacob Tierney. Hacks is a comedy-drama centred on the relationship between an established comedian, played by Jean Smart, and a younger writer; it has been widely recognised in television awards in recent years.
The awards also include categories for television made outside the English language and for limited series, which tell a story over a set number of episodes. Their winners list therefore reflects both popular English-language programmes and international or LGBTQ-focused shows.
