## Summary

California housing and homelessness secretary Tomiquia Moss’s 12-year-old dog, Pepper, died after two cane corsos attacked her during a park walk in Oakland. The case has drawn attention to claims of repeated attacks by the same dogs and their owner, raising concerns among residents about public safety and how reports are handled.

Moss said the dogs jumped two fences and mauled Pepper for about three minutes before she, a park worker and the owner managed to free her. Pepper suffered collapsed ribs and breathing difficulties, and died the next morning. Social media posts allege at least eight attacks on dogs since November 2025, but authorities have not confirmed that the incidents involved the same owner and dogs; the article text ends before giving further details.
