Amazon MGM Studios is developing a Warhammer 40,000 animated event series, expanding the franchise's growing presence at the streamer beyond the previously announced live-action adaptation starring Henry Cavill. Cavill, already attached to the live-action series as star and executive producer, will also serve as an executive producer on this new animated project, underlining the scale of Amazon's ambitions for the sci-fi universe even before the flagship live-action show has begun filming.
The series, reported by Deadline, is being produced in partnership with Blur Studios and Games Workshop, and effectively serves as a spin-off of Prime Video's adult animated anthology Secret Level, whose 2024 Warhammer 40,000 episode proved popular with viewers. Dave Wilson, who directed that episode, returns to co-create and direct the new show alongside John Orloff, known for Masters of the Air. The series will reportedly centre on The Deathwatch, an elite Space Marine chapter charged with hunting down the Imperium's most dangerous alien enemies.

Amazon MGM Studios is the streaming and TV production arm of Amazon, and it has been steadily building out projects based on Warhammer 40,000, a long-running science fiction franchise originally created by the tabletop games company Games Workshop.
