Man confronted by neighbour after allegedly spying on Queensland girl through bedroom window

Daily Mail · 22 hours ago

A mother in Queensland, Australia, has praised a neighbour she had never met for confronting a man allegedly spying through her teenage daughter's bedroom window on the Sunshine Coast. Chad Hillier, of Meridan Plains, gave chase last Wednesday night after his partner spotted the hooded figure outside the house next door, where a 13-year-old girl was playing computer games, unaware she was allegedly being watched. The case highlights concerns about voyeurism and the actions of bystanders who intervene.

Hillier's partner, Demi Irwin, first noticed the man standing at the window and alerted him, telling him the figure was on the move. Hillier dressed quickly, sprinted outside and partly leapt a fence, then used a torch to find the man allegedly hiding behind an air-conditioning unit. Irwin described the incident as disturbing, and the couple recounted the events to the Australian programme A Current Affair. The man is facing allegations but has not, on the basis of this report, been convicted.
