A cocaine dealer who believed he resembled Daniel Craig was tracked down by the National Crime Agency after posting a jog on the fitness app Strava, revealing he was hiding in Spain. Andrew Doran, 42, from Kirkby in Merseyside, was extradited to the UK and has now been sentenced to 18 years in prison for his central role in smuggling cocaine hidden inside gas canisters. The case highlights how seemingly innocuous social media activity can expose fugitives, and underlines the NCA's ability to pursue criminals who flee abroad.

Doran admitted drugs importation charges at Newcastle Crown Court, having helped organise the transport of over 172 kilos of cocaine hidden in 12 gas bottles collected from locations across Kent, Northamptonshire and Peterborough between October 2019 and April 2020. He liaised with contacts in the Netherlands and with co-conspirator Kevin Taylor, who was jailed for 27 years in September 2025, directing the movement of drug profits around the UK and abroad. Doran also arranged a separate importation of 42 kilos of cocaine, with the combined street value of both operations estimated at £18 million.
