HIDIVE, Mainichi Broadcasting System Ink Anime Output Deal, Set ‘Nia Liston: The Merciless Maiden’ Premiere (EXCLUSIVE)

Variety · 4 hours ago

AMC Global Media's anime streaming service HIDIVE has signed a new multi-year exclusive output deal with Japan's Mainichi Broadcasting System, marking the largest content programming agreement in HIDIVE's history. The deal builds on a partnership the two companies launched in 2023, under which HIDIVE has held exclusive worldwide distribution rights outside Asia for select MBS anime titles, and reflects the platform's efforts to strengthen its position as a leading global distributor of Japanese animation.

Under the expanded agreement, HIDIVE will exclusively simulcast MBS's upcoming multi-year slate of series to subscribers in the US, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, the UK and Ireland as titles are released. The first title under the new pact, fantasy action series "Nia Liston: The Merciless Maiden," will premiere in the US on 21 August at Anime NYC 2026 before joining HIDIVE's Fall 2026 Simulcast lineup when it airs in Japan that October. The existing MBS partnership has already delivered HIDIVE hits such as "I Parry Everything" and "Hell Mode," while further titles from the new slate are yet to be announced.

  • HIDIVE and MBS sign HIDIVE's biggest-ever anime output deal
  • Deal extends their 2023 partnership across multiple future seasons
  • First title, "Nia Liston: The Merciless Maiden," premieres 21 August
