Dan Stevens says Prime Video’s RoboCop series is expected to begin filming in spring 2027, shortly after he completes costume fittings for the role of Alex Murphy. The project matters because it marks a new live-action interpretation of the 1987 sci-fi action film, with Amazon MGM aiming to update its themes of technology, identity and corporate power while retaining the original’s spirit.

Stevens was cast this week and will be the fourth live-action actor to play Murphy, after Peter Weller, Robert Burke and Joel Kinnaman. Peter Ocko is leading the series creatively, with James Wan among the executive producers and original writers Ed Neumeier and Michael Miner also attached; Stevens says there are hopes it could run beyond a limited series, though Prime Video has not announced a release date.
