## Key points

- Taylor says her pay did not rise despite four Emmy nominations.
- She left her contract after six seasons.
- She later returned as a guest on her own terms.

## Summary

Holland Taylor says low pay was one reason she declined to renew her contract on *Two and a Half Men* after six years. Despite receiving four Emmy nominations for her role as Evelyn Harper, she says she was never given a raise, prompting her to seek greater control over when she appeared.

Taylor continued to return as a guest when she chose, saying the producers were astonished by her decision and told her they could not afford to pay her more. She said she had enjoyed parts of the show but felt the production lacked courtesies. The sitcom ran for 12 seasons, from 2003 to 2015.
