Hollis Brown Had a Nasty Breakup. They Reunite for New Song ‘Garage Days’
Hollis Brown, the Queens rock band, have reunited and released their first new song since an acrimonious split in 2023. The track, "Garage Days," marks a reconciliation between singer Mike Montali and founding guitarist Jonathan Bonilla, whose falling-out was patched up with help from drummer Andy Zehnal, and signals the band's cautious return after years apart.
The song, released on Friday, harks back to the group's formation as high-school students practising in Bonilla's father's garage, and carries musical echoes of U2 in Montali's vocals and Bonilla's guitar work. The pair reunited onstage for a one-off show in March at the Wonder Bar in Asbury Park, New Jersey, following a heated private meeting in a Queens diner, and have now booked a further gig at New York's Mercury Lounge on 26 September.
