Liz Bates has criticised a developer’s proposal to replace an unauthorised brick wall blocking her sea view with frosted glass. She says the alternative would still obstruct the view and that the development has reduced her flat’s value by about £50,000, while also affecting residents’ living conditions through noise, smells and overlooking concerns.

The 16ft by 6ft wall was built beside a block of 27 luxury flats in Southbourne, Bournemouth, despite planning objections. BCP Council refused retrospective permission and a government planning inspector rejected the developer’s appeal, but developer Eddie Fitzsimmons has submitted a new application for an opaque glass screen; Bates is urging the council to enforce removal of the structure.
