Australia flanker Tom Hooper has signed a contract extension with Exeter Chiefs that keeps him at Sandy Park until the summer of 2028, before he returns home to join Super Rugby Pacific side the Queensland Reds ahead of their 2029 season. The move secures the 25-year-old's long-term future, committing him to English club rugby for the next few seasons and then to domestic Australian rugby through to 2030. It also signals his confidence that he can continue to be selected for the Wallabies despite playing in Europe.

Hooper joined Exeter from the ACT Brumbies last summer, alongside compatriot Len Ikitau, and enjoyed a strong debut season, making 23 appearances and helping the Chiefs finish third and reach the Premiership final at Twickenham, as well as the semi-finals of the European Challenge Cup. While Ikitau has already returned to Australia ahead of next year's Rugby World Cup, Hooper has chosen to extend his stay. He has won 23 caps since his 2023 debut against South Africa, and Rugby Australia's director of high performance, Peter Horne, described his eventual return as "a real coup" for the game in the country.
