## Summary

Christian Everhard’s horror film *The Crawling* premiered at FilmQuest in Provo, Utah, on 23 October. It follows a couple on a remote holiday who encounter an alien, using the threat to explore how their strained relationship and expectations of masculinity unravel.

Will Brittain plays Mike, a police officer suspended for assault, who feels blamed for the couple’s difficulties conceiving and whose account of the encounter is doubted by his wife Emma, played by Katherine Hughes. The film pairs alien and body horror effects by Steve Wang and Cleve Gunderman with performances that reveal darker sides of both characters; Everhard says he wanted viewers to move from disliking Mike to understanding and caring about him.
