House Democrats are preparing a wave of investigations into President Donald Trump, his family and his Cabinet should they win control of the House of Representatives in November's midterm elections. Given that the party controlling the White House typically loses seats in midterms, senior Democrats are already lining up priorities for committee chairmanships they expect to assume, signalling that oversight of the administration would become a central focus of a Democratic-led chamber.

Rep. Jason Crow, tipped for a key defence-related role, said he would scrutinise alleged corruption, incompetence and nepotism at the Department of Defense, including claims that Trump family-linked companies benefited from defence spending; he did not rule out impeachment as a possible tool, though party leader Hakeem Jeffries has repeatedly avoided endorsing that route. Rep. Robert Garcia, in line to chair the Oversight Committee, listed Trump family corruption, the Jeffrey Epstein case, and alleged wrongdoing at ICE and DHS as top targets, alongside corporate misconduct and criticism of vaccine policy under Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. Meanwhile, Rep. Jamie Raskin, the presumptive Judiciary Committee chair, has already sent information requests concerning Jared Kushner, Donald Trump Jr. and FBI Director Kash Patel.
