House of the Dragon season 3's sixth episode ends on an unsettling note, leaving the fate of Corlys Velaryon, the "Sea Snake," deliberately ambiguous. The episode caps a storyline in which Corlys, still grieving his wife Rhaenys and increasingly focused on his legacy, has clashed with Queen Rhaenyra Targaryen over her refusal to legitimise his sons Alyn and Addam as heirs. This matters because Corlys has been one of the show's steadiest, most principled figures, and the final scene raises real doubt about whether he survives the war at all.
