‘House of the Dragon’ Star on Narrowly Cheating Death: “They Can’t Get Rid of Me That Easily”
Steve Toussaint, who plays Corlys Velaryon in House of the Dragon, discussed his character’s survival through the season three finale after several apparent brushes with death. Corlys remains one of the few original cast members still alive, making his continued presence significant as the series approaches its final season.
During the season, Corlys survives a major naval battle, a public challenge to Queen Rhaenyra, capture by the Hightowers and subsequent imprisonment by Daemon. Toussaint said friends, family and viewers repeatedly asked whether his character would survive, joking that producers “can’t get rid of me that easily”; he also highlighted Corlys’s growing humility and vulnerability, particularly in his relationship with his son Alyn.
