Viktor Hovland holds a one-shot lead heading into the final round of the PGA Tour's $40m Tour Championship in Atlanta, where he is also chasing a second FedEx Cup title having won it in 2023. The Norwegian carded a five-under 65, birdieing the last two holes, to move to 15 under, while American Ryan Gerard sits one behind after a closing birdie left him on 14 under with a round of 66. The event carries added significance as the season finale, with world number one Scottie Scheffler and Masters champion Rory McIlroy both making late charges to keep the title in play.

Scheffler, the 2024 champion, shot a bogey-free 66 to sit three back on 12 under alongside Australia's Adam Scott and Sweden's Ludvig Aberg, while three-time FedEx Cup winner McIlroy fired a superb nine-birdie 63 to move to within five shots on 10 under, praising his improved putting. Defending champion Tommy Fleetwood and England's Justin Rose and Matt Fitzpatrick are further back and unlikely to challenge, while Scotland's Robert MacIntyre, playing alone as the first man out in the reduced 29-player field, shot a 63 to reach four under.
