## Key points

- Bobby Pulido won a congressional race.
- He is ready to leave music for public service.
- His campaign included appearances at more than 75 quinceañeras.

## Summary

Bobby Pulido has won a closely contested congressional race and says he is prepared to leave music behind to focus on public service. The move would end a three-decade career that made him a prominent Tejano singer, though he has joked about keeping a karaoke machine at home.

Born in Texas to Tejano musicians, Pulido began performing with his father’s band and launched his recording career with the 1995 album *Desvelado*. He won Latin Grammys for Best Tejano Album in 2022 and 2025, and has another nomination pending; during his campaign, he performed at more than 75 local quinceañeras while meeting families and voters.
