## Key points

- Carpenter has scored four WSL goals from defence.
- She has created 19 chances for Chelsea.
- Her attacking role has not displaced her defensive work.

## Summary

Ellie Carpenter has emerged as a major attacking force for Chelsea, scoring four goals this Women’s Super League season from a full-back or wing-back role. Her impact was clear against Roma, when she came on at half-time and scored within six minutes, helping Chelsea secure a 2-0 win.

Chelsea are unbeaten and top the league, with Carpenter starting all but one of their WSL matches. She has also scored and assisted once, created 19 chances, and completed 141 passes in the final third, the most in her squad; she ranks second for successful tackles. Coach Sonia Bompastor, who worked with Carpenter at Lyon, says the 26-year-old has improved her crossing and can contribute both in attack and defence.
