Alex Warren says his second album, WILDCHILD, was made as an intentional exploration of grief, love, loss and healing rather than an attempt to replicate the success of his 2025 hit “Ordinary”. He describes the record as reflecting a man trying to heal after a more broken first album, drawing on the deaths of both his parents and his marriage to Kouver. The title is especially personal: his late father called him “wildchild”, making the album a tribute to that relationship as well as a therapeutic creative process.

The album contains 13 tracks, including an interlude, with each song intended to address a different life experience or emotional lesson, from bereavement and break-ups to falling in love. Warren wrote it with producer Adam Yaron, Cal Shapiro and Mags Duval, and says he hopes the music gives listeners an outlet he lacked while growing up. He frames the record as helping people identify difficult feelings, arguing that understanding them is an important step towards healing.
