How Hitmaker Lewis Capaldi is Propelled by the Power of Therapy

Billboard · 1 hour ago

Scottish singer-songwriter Lewis Capaldi has partnered with the online therapy platform BetterHelp on a new mental health campaign called Check Back In. The 29-year-old chart-topper, known for hits such as "Someone You Loved", "Before You Go" and "Forget Me", has been candid about his own struggles with mental health, and the campaign uses his profile to encourage people to treat therapy as ongoing care rather than a one-off fix.

Despite his commercial success, Brit Award wins and a Grammy nomination, Capaldi has spoken about intense pressure, imposter syndrome, panic attacks and a diagnosis of Tourette Syndrome, all of which he says therapy has helped him manage. Having previously given fans nearly a million hours of free therapy through BetterHelp, the new campaign lets anyone who redeems a free month of therapy pass a further free month on to a loved one. BetterHelp's Sara Brooks praised his openness, while Capaldi stressed the importance of maintaining therapy even on good days.
