The Canadian all-female rock band The Beaches have enjoyed a dramatic surge in popularity after their 2023 song "Edge of the Earth" featured in Prime Video's hit hockey romance drama Off Campus, which premiered on 13 May. A single line of dialogue praising the band, followed by the song's use as a "yearning" track between the show's young female lead and her hockey-player love interest, has propelled the group and its back catalogue to a much wider audience. The moment illustrates how television needle drops are once again breaking bands, a phenomenon the band compare to the influence of shows such as The OC and Gossip Girl.

Since the show's release, The Beaches — Jordan Miller, Kylie Miller, Leandra Earl and Eliza Enman-McDaniel — have gained more than five million monthly Spotify listeners, with drummer Enman-McDaniel describing the boost as roughly six times bigger than their earlier viral hit "Blame Brett". Earl, who wrote "Edge of the Earth" as a queer love song about her ex-girlfriend, welcomed its new reach, joking that the only person upset by its crossover appeal is the ex herself. The band, who were named Group of the Year at the 2025 JUNO Awards, released a deluxe version of their album No Hard Feelings weeks after the premiere and are opening for Louis Tomlinson's tour throughout July, while also working on their next album.
