Olivia Rodrigo has launched Daisy Chain Fields, a new all-women music festival that drew 45,000 fans to Great Park in Irvine, California, on 29 August. The event is being framed as the spiritual successor to Sarah McLachlan's Lilith Fair, the pioneering all-female touring festival of the late 1990s, with McLachlan giving her personal blessing and appearing on stage. The festival matters as a rare, large-scale showcase built entirely around women artists across genres, reviving a format that had lain dormant for nearly three decades.

The lineup spanned generations and genres, including Chappell Roan, Doechii, Bikini Kill, Garbage, the Breeders and Mitski, with Rodrigo headlining and performing tracks from her new album, joined on stage by Alanis Morissette and Stevie Nicks. Rodrigo said she had wanted to create the festival for years and called McLachlan for guidance before organising it. Daisy Chain raised $10 million for women's charities such as the Center for Reproductive Rights and Planned Parenthood, a sum doubled to $20 million by philanthropist Melinda French Gates.
