- He plays a Marines drill instructor.
- Bradley Cooper and Tom Cruise advised him on acting.

## Summary

Pat McAfee has made his acting debut as a Marines drill instructor in Peter Berg’s film *The Mosquito Bowl*, a drama about four college football stars who join the Marines after Pearl Harbor. The role grew out of McAfee’s appearance on ESPN’s *College GameDay* during Timothée Chalamet’s 2024 visit, which brought Hollywood attention to the programme while the film was casting.

McAfee spent a week at the Marine Corps recruit training site in Parris Island, South Carolina, to prepare. Director Berg said McAfee also sought acting advice from Bradley Cooper and Tom Cruise, and McAfee said the experience made him fall in love with acting. The film is based on Buzz Bissinger’s 2022 book about a historic football game played by Marines before they went to battle.
