- *The Overview* explores space, perspective and humanity.

## Summary

Steven Wilson has revealed how actor David Tennant came to appear on his new album, *The Overview*. Wilson asked Tennant to narrate parts of the two-track record after hearing his voice in a BBC radio programme, bringing the Doctor Who actor into a project about the vastness of space.

Wilson contacted Tennant through his agent and sent him the script; Tennant agreed and recorded the narration in a London studio. The 42-minute album, released in March 2025, consists of two long pieces inspired by the “overview effect”, the shift in perspective some astronauts describe when seeing Earth from space. Tennant’s spoken sections help frame the record’s themes of humanity, scale and existence.
