How to AirPlay from iPhone or MacBook to your TV
Apple AirPlay lets iPhone, iPad and MacBook users send compatible video, music and photos wirelessly to an AirPlay-enabled TV, offering a simple way to view or hear content on a larger screen. It is useful for streaming services, hotel televisions and playing audio through a TV’s speakers, provided both devices are on the same Wi‑Fi network.
On iPhone or iPad, users enable AirPlay in the TV’s settings, then select the AirPlay or cast icon within a compatible app and choose the television. Photos can be shared via the Share menu, while music controls appear in Control Centre; automatic connections can be set to Never, Ask or Automatic. For unsupported content such as webpages or documents, Screen Mirroring in Control Centre duplicates the entire device display and can be stopped from the same control.
- AirPlay streams compatible content from Apple devices to supported TVs.
- Both devices must use the same Wi‑Fi network.
- Screen Mirroring displays anything on an iPhone screen.

AirPlay is Apple’s wireless sharing feature. It allows an iPhone, iPad or MacBook to send video, music or photos to a compatible television, so content can be viewed or heard on a larger screen.
Many newer smart TVs support AirPlay, as do some streaming devices. Usually, the Apple device and television need to be connected to the same Wi-Fi network before they can find each other.
AirPlay can send individual items from supported apps, while screen mirroring shows everything currently displayed on the phone, tablet or computer. This can be useful for content that does not have its own casting option, such as a webpage or document.
