Hull Kingston Rovers have secured their place in the Super League play-offs after beating Huddersfield Giants at home, ending a run of three straight defeats and confirming that the reigning champions will defend their title in the post-season. The result, combined with St Helens' defeat elsewhere, guaranteed the Robins a top-six finish, though a top-four spot is now out of reach. The win also marked head coach Willie Peters' final home game before he departs to lead new NRL franchise PNG Chiefs, and came after Rovers restored several front-line players who had been rested during last week's heavy loss to Wigan Warriors.

Rovers raced into control with tries from captain Elliot Minchella, Arthur Mourgue and Jack Broadbent inside the opening 17 minutes, before Huddersfield's Tanguy Zenon hit back. Further tries from Jez Litten, a second from Mourgue, and Tom Davies sealed the victory, with Rhyse Martin also playing his last home game before following Peters to PNG. The Giants, who had climbed away from the bottom of the table with five wins in six games, had earlier dented Leigh Leopards' play-off push but could not overturn Rovers' dominant start.
