## Key points

- *Prison Break: Black Creek* is now in production.
- The spinoff follows an officer at a dangerous prison.
- It is coming to Hulu and Disney Plus.

## Summary

Hulu has put *Prison Break: Black Creek*, a spinoff set in the original series’ universe, into production. Its return matters because the early 2000s crime drama was a major hit, and the new series is intended to revisit its prison setting with a different story.

The plot centres on a soldier-turned-corrections officer who takes a job at the fictional Black Creek Penitentiary to help someone she loves. Elgin James is showrunner and director, Dawn Olmstead returns as executive producer, and the cast includes Drake Rodger, Clayton Cardenas, JR Bourne, Georgie Flores, Myles Bullock and Noah Emmerich. The original series ran for 90 episodes from 2005 to 2009 and returned for a season in 2017; the spinoff is expected on Hulu and Disney Plus.
