Hundreds of university students marched in Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane against Pauline Hanson and the growing support for her One Nation party. Organisers said the protests reflected concern about Hanson’s increased polling and prominence in mainstream politics, as well as opposition to policies they regard as racist and divisive.

Demonstrators used strongly worded chants and criticised Hanson’s alleged targeting of minority groups. The rallies followed larger nationwide protests in August, when thousands of students walked out across several Australian cities; Hanson blamed left-wing teachers, while organisers rejected calls from Victorian Premier Ben Carroll for students to remain in class.
