## Key points

- A passenger described Williams as “on a mission” during the train attack.
- Stephen Crean said he tried to stop him reaching the buffet car.
- Williams denies attempted murder charges linked to attacks in three locations.

## Summary

A passenger who confronted Anthony Williams during a knife attack on an LNER train told a court that Williams appeared “on a mission” and did not seem angry. Stephen Crean said he moved to stop Williams reaching a buffet car where passengers were sheltering, and fought with him before locking himself in a toilet and calling 999.

The train was stopped at Huntingdon, Cambridgeshire, on 1 November last year, after ten people were stabbed. Crean said he was cut on his fingers during the struggle, while CCTV footage was shown to jurors. Williams denies attempting to murder the ten people on the train, as well as three people in Peterborough the previous day and a 17-year-old boy at Pontoon Dock DLR station; jurors will decide whether he intended to kill.
