## Key points

- A Florida man faces a first-degree murder charge in his wife’s disappearance.
- Investigators say he sent her documents to a relative in the Philippines.
- Maria’s body has not been found after a search of the couple’s home.

## Summary

Florida man Epifanio IX Ramos Gaminde has been indicted on a first-degree murder charge in the disappearance of his wife, Maria, who has not been heard from in a confirmed way since January 2024. Her body has not been found, but investigators searched the couple’s DeBary home after a neighbour reported seeing Gaminde doing extensive work behind the property around the time she vanished.

Investigators say Gaminde sent Maria’s identification and credit cards to a relative in the Philippines, apparently to make it seem she was alive and abroad. Her family became suspicious of messages, emails and card spending said to come from overseas, and authorities found no financial trail indicating she was alive. The last confirmed activity investigators identified was a December 2023 visit to Disney World with her children; prosecutors say they will pursue the murder case even without her remains.
