The father of murdered Australian woman Molly Ticehurst confronted her killer, ex-boyfriend Daniel Billings, at his sentencing hearing in the NSW Supreme Court, telling him he hoped her screams would keep him awake at night. Ms Ticehurst was found dead in her Forbes home in April 2024 after Billings broke into her bedroom and stabbed her 15 times in an attack lasting under a minute; her case became a flashpoint in Australia's national debate on gendered violence and prompted tighter bail laws in New South Wales.

Billings had previously threatened to kill Ms Ticehurst and faced multiple rape and domestic violence charges, yet was granted bail by a local court registrar just a fortnight before the murder, despite a provisional apprehended violence order against him. He pleaded guilty to murder in November 2025 after 18 months of legal negotiations, with the sexual assault charges subsequently dropped. Around 50 family and friends attended the hearing, the court has begun viewing videos Billings made foreshadowing the crime, and Justice Natalie Adams is expected to hand down sentence later in September.
