The husband of prominent Australian anti-abortion campaigner Dr Joanna Howe has provoked outrage after declaring "I don't do consent" during a video attacking Chanel Contos, the founder of Teach Us Consent, and the government funding her organisation has received. James Howe made the comment while he and his wife criticised Contos's push for consent education in schools and her warnings about social media's influence on teenage boys, prompting Dr Howe to interject that the footage could be edited to make her husband "sound really bad."

In the 35-minute video, titled "The RADICAL Feminist Behind Albanese's Social Media Crackdown," Mr Howe branded Contos, 27, a "freak" and "disgusting person" over her calls for children to learn to seek consent before physical contact, while Dr Howe accused her of exaggerating the risk of sexual violence and questioned whether men were solely to blame. Contos rose to prominence in 2021 with a petition for earlier, more comprehensive consent education and has since highlighted how social media algorithms expose teenage boys to misogynistic content; her organisation has reportedly received A$3.5 million in government funding. Mr Howe, a furniture designer and former journalist, is married to Dr Howe, with the couple having five children together.
