“I Lost 17 Oscars, But I Won a Pig”: How Diane Warren Saved Wilbur
Songwriter Diane Warren has adopted Wilbur, a piglet that became a viral sensation last month after being filmed running loose through West Hollywood, dodging traffic and rescuers near Canter's Deli. The footage, which drew nearly half a million views on TikTok, led to the animal being taken in by the West Los Angeles Animal Shelter, where he stayed unclaimed until a silent auction was held to find him a new home.
Warren, who has previously rescued a cow that escaped a slaughterhouse, sent a representative to the 20 August auction and won the bid, though she has not disclosed the price paid. Wilbur, a 17-pound piglet, now lives on Warren's 7-acre Malibu ranch alongside goats, donkeys and ducks, and the 17-times Oscar-nominated songwriter has joked he may even accompany her to the Academy Awards.
