Black Sabbath guitarist Tony Iommi has said Queen’s Brian May is the only guest musician on his forthcoming solo album, From the Dark. May plays a guitar solo on the track “Death Wake”, and Iommi’s decision reflects his wish for the record to feel like a cohesive band project rather than a guest-heavy collaboration.
Iommi described “Death Wake” as a doom song and said he offered May the chance to play on other material, but May felt Iommi’s own solos suited those tracks. The album also features vocalist Jørn Lande, bassist Becky Baldwin and drummer Karl Brazil; Iommi said he deliberately avoided additional guests to preserve the group dynamic.
