In a letter sent on the Saturday, the ICC said the ECB breached the provision by recording and broadcasting footage and audio of the address before the Test concluded; Article 2.2.11 requires federations to ensure no recording equipment is set up in dressing rooms for broadcast purposes. Stokes, 35, responded by posting a link to the story on X with the caption "Sack him", and explained the timing was a plan devised by his agents and the ECB. Neither the ECB nor the ICC has publicly commented, and the letter arrived a day before the Women's T20 World Cup final at Lord's, where ECB chair Richard Thompson met ICC chairman Jay Shah.
