## Summary

Ice Cube and New Line Cinema have reportedly chosen Lawrence Lamont to direct *Last Friday*, the next film in the *Friday* franchise. The project’s progress matters to fans who have waited years for a fourth instalment, after Ice Cube, Mike Epps and studio executives gave updates that it was moving forward.

Lamont recently made his feature directing debut with *One of Them Days* and has also directed music videos for Big Sean. The film is expected to shoot in Southern California over 40 days, with 43 cast members and a crew of 150, and receive $11.4 million through a California production incentive. Ice Cube is set to write and star; the film may address gentrification, while Chris Tucker’s return as Smokey remains uncertain.
