Shane Hawkins, son of the late Foo Fighters drummer Taylor Hawkins, has taken his father’s place in classic rock covers band Chevy Metal, helping to keep the group active after Taylor’s death. He says performing with the band honours his father’s memory and reflects the excitement he felt watching him play as a child.

Taylor Hawkins died aged 50 in Bogotá, Colombia, on 25 March 2022, before a planned Foo Fighters festival appearance. While Foo Fighters continued with other drummers, Chevy Metal’s remaining members, guitarist Brent Wood and bassist Wiley Hodgden, were determined to preserve the covers band; Shane now contributes as its drummer.
