ILA Locate Resilience Amid New Single ‘Sorry’

Clash · 2 hours ago

British-Turkish artist ILA has released their new single 'Sorry', the latest preview of their forthcoming album 'Motherland'. The release follows the band's recent stint supporting Mike Skinner's The Streets on tour, a pairing that highlighted their reflective, worldly-wise songwriting style.

'Sorry' addresses guilt and regret, reframing pain as a source of resilience, with the band describing it as "turning heartbreak into resilience, finding strength where there was once only pain." The album was made with producer Mikko Gordon, known for work with The Smile, Idles, Arcade Fire and Beck, and draws lyrical inspiration from Turkish author Elif Shafak's novel There Are Rivers In The Sky, with its water-based imagery reflected in artwork by Salah Van Puymbroeck and creative director Moenia Ladhib. ILA will also play UK shows in November, including dates in Brighton, Manchester, Leeds and Bournemouth.
