Immersive Horror Play ‘A Ghost in Your Ear’ Sets New York Premiere From Audible Theater
Jamie Armitage's immersive horror play "A Ghost in Your Ear" will make its New York premiere at Audible's off-Broadway Minetta Lane Theatre, following a sold-out run in London earlier this year. The show, running from 29 September to 15 November, sees Audible Theater collaborate on a production set inside an audiobook recording studio, with a recorded version to be released globally as an Audible Original afterwards.
The play follows an actor who arrives late to a recording session and is handed a ghost story, with events taking a deadly turn. Audiences wear headphones using binaural sound technology for an immersive experience, with sound design by Tony-nominated duo Ben and Max Ringham, who have previously worked on "A Doll's House" and "Prima Facie". Armitage, known for directing the Tony-nominated "Six", said the studio setting made an Audible partnership a natural fit, while Audible's Kate Navin called the show representative of the "boundary-pushing work" the company champions.
