- Rick Parfitt called it his favourite of the band’s albums.
- The record helped establish their enduring boogie-rock sound.

## Summary

Status Quo’s 1973 album *Hello!* became the band’s first UK number one, marking a high point in their shift from psychedelic rock to the driving boogie sound that brought them lasting commercial success. Rick Parfitt later called it his favourite album, praising its songs, cover and place in the charts.

Recorded at London’s IBC Studios with Alan Lancaster and John Coghlan, *Hello!* aimed to capture the band’s live sound without much polish or experimentation. Francis Rossi said he was proud of the record but quickly turned his attention to what came next; the band went on to score six more UK top-five albums during the decade.
