## Key points

- Holland still dislikes the “Sick Note” nickname.
- It came from his demanding teenage run in Billy Elliot.
- He returned to filming after a concussion in 2025.

## Summary

Tom Holland says a nickname from his time starring in Billy Elliot the Musical still frustrates him. His co-stars called him “Sick Note” because he sometimes needed breaks when illness, tiredness or injuries interrupted the demanding schedule; he says the label drove him to push through difficulties as he pursued acting.

Holland was a teenager when he played the lead on the West End, performing three shows a week while rehearsing daily. He recalled getting tonsillitis on the day of his stage debut but performing anyway, then taking the rest of that week off. In 2025, he was concussed while filming Spider-Man: Brand New Day and also took time off before returning to work.
