In Canada: Drake Dominates 80% of Spotify’s Global Impact List for the First Half of 2026
Spotify has published its Global Impact List for the first half of 2026, ranking the 50 most-streamed songs by Canadian artists outside Canada, and Drake has dominated it with 40 of the 50 entries, roughly 80% of the list. The result cements his continued grip on global streaming, driven largely by his prolific "Iceman" era, which included a triple-album release alongside Maid of Honour and Habibti. His lead track, "Janice SFTU," tops the chart and has also been tipped by Spotify as a song-of-the-summer contender, with "National Treasures," "Shabang," "Whisper My Name" and "Ran To Atlanta" (featuring Future and Molly Santana) completing the top five; he even closes out the list at No. 50 with "Rust Intro."
The remaining ten spots showcase a broader cross-section of Canadian talent across genres including country, indie rock, Punjabi, hip-hop and electronic music. B.C. artist Cameron Whitcomb is the highest-placed non-Drake act at No. 13 with "Kingdom of Fear," alongside a second entry at No. 49, while Punjabi-Canadian star Shubh secures two placements ("Moves" at No. 23 and "Bounce" at No. 35). Other notable entries include bbno$'s "diamonds are forever" (No. 41), Quebec duo Angine de Poitrine's "Fabienk" (No. 43), Toronto's Good Kid, producer Murda Beatz, rapper OXYNOVA and producer Asad Khan. The article also briefly notes Montreal's LASSO country music festival, which drew over 43,000 fans across 15-16 August with headliners Thomas Rhett and Mumford & Sons.
