Their success matters because it suggests a broad audience exists for technically complex and unconventional heavy music, with the band attracting fans across ages and beyond its usual genre base.

The KEXP video has reached 17 million YouTube views, while the band has accumulated millions of streams, sold out shows within seconds and drawn roughly 100,000 people to set the Montreal International Jazz Festival’s largest crowd since Stevie Wonder in 2009. As interest surged, every major label and many independent labels approached the group, but manager Sébastien Collin said they chose to remain independent despite the rapid need to expand vinyl, distribution, merchandise, touring and publishing operations.
