A Bali expatriate has warned that some scooter-taxi drivers are allegedly recording female tourists without consent, including filming beneath their skirts and sharing the footage on social media. The claims raise concerns about passenger safety and privacy in a transport service widely used by visitors as a cheap, app-tracked alternative to private taxis.

Loui, who says she has lived in Bali for six years and was herself filmed by a driver using a 360-degree camera, said she found more than 50 Facebook accounts posting similar material. She alleged that videos, often featuring women who may be intoxicated after nights out, attract hundreds of thousands of views and generate income; some reportedly also reveal passengers’ drop-off addresses. She stressed that her warning concerned individual drivers rather than Gojek or Grab as companies.
